词汇(一)

Garrulous
- talking a lot, esp. about unimportant things
E.g. He became positively garrulous after a few glasses of wine.

Analogous
- similar in some way to another thing or situation and therefore able to be compared with it
E.g. His mother argued that not going to college was analogous to throwing his life away.

Nemesis
- punishment or defeat that is deserved and cannot be avoided
- a source of harm, ruin, retribution or vengeance; a formidable opponent that cannot be beaten
E.g. Yet again, she was facing her nemesis in the final match of the tournament; for three consecutive championships, she had faced this opponent, and for three consecutive championships, she had lost.
